Hi.
So you want to know a bit about me then. Well I was born and raised
in County Durham, England where I still live with my partner, Melissa,
and my 2 lovely children, Amy and Michael.
I first got into miniature painting when I was around 14 years
old and passed a GW shop in Newcastle. Amazed by the tiny soldiers
I was hooked and started collecting and painting them. Those were
the days of no primer and treacle thick basecoats though and while
I improved a bit it wasn’t until Melissa bought me the GW
Lord of the Rings box set that my passion was rekindled. Around
the same time I stumbled across Coolminiornot and its wealth of
tips and articles and I started a one man mission to be as good
as I could at mini painting. Gradually my painting improved to a
decent level and I landed a gig painting minis for a new company
called Sacred Blade Miniatures. After a short while I was contacted
by Sally from Hasslefree asking if the Gymnast figure by them that
I had painted was for sale. I sold it to her and after some chatting
Sally asked me to join the Paintslaves, a talented group of painters
that do the painting for Hasslefree. Of course I said yes and to
date I have done a load of Hasslefree figures and not much else.
I totally love the way Kev sculpts and could paint their minis all
day long given the chance. Something I couldn’t do for anyone
else.
After doing a few conversions I found I also have a love for sculpting
miniatures. This has taken over painting now and most of my spare time
is spent sculpting. I still get the odd commission done though and now
and again a contest entry. I find when I do get to paint the passion is
still there.
Mostly though I am concentrating on sculpting now to the extent of taking
on commissions from several companies and private individuals. Please
email me for more information on sculpting commissions.
Mark.
P.S.
I’m not as grumpy as I look in the photo……honest ;-)
